Jury Duty

Wow, sorry for my hiatus … November got away from me!  I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, we certainly did, enjoying plenty of food with friends and family.  But real quick I want to back up to before Thanksgiving, to November 15th.  Yep, as I had mentioned before I disappeared,  I got served for Jury Duty.  I was actually excited about this, weird huh?!  I wanted to experience the process and see how it all worked.  So, none the less I went in for the Jury pool that Monday morning and actually got selected; it was a civil case, nothing too major, so it was going to wrap up quickly. Perfect!  I get to perform my civic duty and still make it to work the rest of the week.  So, once selected we were released for an hour lunch break before returning to start the case.  I went down the street to Subway and noticed a fellow juror walking in behind me, Carol.  Carol and I sat together and learned a little about each other.  Come to find out Carol’s son founded an outreach program in…wait for it, you got it… Ethiopia!  Mercy Ethiopia‘s goal is “to raise physical, financial and material support for street children rescue centers and/or charitable organizations serving children opressed by the hardships of extreme poverty in Ethiopia”.  Cool huh, but the story gets even better.  Beyond this, Carol’s son has adopted two siblings from Ethiopia as well!  It was so cool to sit there and learn about how her grandchildren are adjusting to life in the States.  You know, sometimes God shows up in the most unexpected places at the most unexpected times, and this just happened to be one of those instances.  That afternoon I left reminded of how God is on this Adoption Journey right beside us.
