Welcome Guest

3rd times the charm?

Yep, you got it.  Today we went to a UPS store three times trying to make a little progress with our home study.  TRIP 1: Visit UPS store A to get our finger prints (different set from before) digitally documented and sent off for our local criminal background checks.  (By the way, the previous prints came back from the FBI and we’re all clear there, in case you were nervous 😉 ).  So… Mark goes first as I watch from behind.  He does a pretty good job getting the right sensitivity and pressure on the little machine, but had to retry a few “print-rolls” here and there.  Me and my competitive nature starts thinking to my self.  “All right, I’m almost up”… “I’m going to do such a great job, get it right each time… No re-do’s, you’ve got this Rachel”.  I step up to the finger scanner, verify my information and I’m off.  First Scan, “ERROR DISPLAY!!” on the screen.  Bummer, I thought I had this.  Re-do.  Second try, “ERROR!! flashing in red” Rats, whats the deal, are my finger tips goofy?  The assistant encourages me to rub the tips of my fingers together, “warm them, it’s heat sensitive” she says.  I proceed.  Error after Error, I keep messing up.  Too much pressure, not enough, poor alignment… etc, etc.  Eventually we get them all wrapped up and sent off.  She had to send a few through that were less than desirable quality, so hopefully they are “good enough” and I don’t find myself back in front of the finger print scanner with clammy palms facing a second go-round…

On to UPS visit # 2 for the.  Following that trip we decided to go back to our local UPS store to get our Power of Attorney and Post Adoption agreement’s notarized since they’ve been the ones notarizing everything else thus far.  Problem, we left those documents at home.  So, go home, get the papers, head over to UPS store B; TRIP 3:  Walk in, “is Stacy here, she’s been notarizing for us in the past, and we’d like to keep consistent?”  “She’s not here, she’ll be back around 3:30”.  Bummer.  “Ok, we’ll come back”.  After work we head back to the UPS- B and see Stacy “Yay!” I tell myself.  We walk up, show her our ID’s… “Oh…” She says. “Power of Attorneys are the ONE document I’m not authorized to notarize”.   Seriously…
